That’s right Mr. Pugno, there is something really wrong….

A majority of Californians being allowed to vote away the rights of a minority of Californians is “tyranny of the majority”** and it is WRONG

In fact there are specific protections against majorities built into our constitution by our founding fathers.  It is why we have a Constitutional College, and a Bill of Rights, to protect small states from from big states, to protect the rights of individuals from governments and mob rule.

A US lawyer who thinks marriage has meant any one thing to any one society since the beginning of time, and that it should not change as society changes,  is not getting that opinion from the scientific or academic communities, he is taking it from a narrow reading of bible, and applying a fundamentalist view to US law, which is WRONG.

Because by that logic then we should expect Mr. Pugno to also advocate the return of dowries – fathers selling their prepubescent daughters to the husband of his choice, because certainly that is truer to the condition of “marriage since the beginning of time” then our modern-western-romantic notions of a ‘woman’s choice’ and ‘falling in love’.  Age requirements should also be removed from US marital law, that should be left to the father of the bride, as well, the signing of any license or contract should also be left to the father of the bride.  All teen age girls should have to pray for her fathers mercy in picking her lifelong mate, because divorce is certainly not allowed “since the beginning of time”.

Right Mr. Pugno?

Seems to me that changing the progressive change of course of marriage now, to “restore what marriage has meant since the beginning of time” to Mr. Pugno, will not only destroy the meaning of modern marriage, but also the life’s work and livelihood of his professional colleagues.

There is big money in divorce law Mr. Pugno.  But I suppose hypocrisy has its price.

“Since the 1965 immigration act we have flooded our country with unskilled Third World labor.”

Of course we have!  Its how America grows and thrives, and has been since before even Ben Franklin argued against road signs in German.  Germans fought with the British in the Revolutionary War and many stayed in America after the war, in numbers enough to ruffle Ben’s feathers.

“Flooding” is not new!  Between 1880 and 1930 27 million immigrants came through Ellis Island alone (there were other points of entry beside NY), and this was during the greatest migration of humanity ever recorded. All of Europe was on the move, and America swelled. The ships manifests and immigration surveys of these immigrants is online at Ellis Island.org, and it is a fact that the immigrants that came were “unskilled” and considered “third world”.  They came with $20 in their pockets, they did not speak English, they had no education, they brought strange customs, fears, and suspicions with them.

The Statue of Liberty herself asks for them, the plaque on her base reads..“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Immigration and Anti immigration have always been current events in America, as has our need for cheap labor.

The foreign born are  people living in the US who were born outside the country to parents not US citizens.  This includes undocumented immigrants, legally-admitted immigrants, temporary residents or workers, and students.  The survey doesn’t separate the number of people in each category.

15.6 percent (24.1 million) of the US labor force (age 16 and over) is foreign born.  76.6% are 25-54 years old, where as only 66% of natives are 25-54 years old.

49.4% (about 12 million) of the US Foreign-born labor force is Hispanic, 22% (about 5 million) are Asian.

Both native and foreign born workers have the same rate of unemployment.  If as some claim foreign workers took away jobs from natives, one would expect the unemployment rate for natives and foreign-born to differ, but they don’t.

The labor force participation rate of natives is 65.6%, for the foreign born its slightly higher at  68.1%, meaning 16.4 million foreign-born seek US jobs.  At the moment there are 14 million unemployed with an unemployment rate of about 9.5%.  This means 1.5 million foreign-born workers are unemployed and 12.5 million native workers are unemployed.  It also means 15 million foreign workers are working.  If we were to get rid of the foreign-born workers, their jobs would go to natives, but there would not be enough natives to fill all the jobs.  (15 million working foreign-born – 12.5 million unemployed natives = 2.5 million jobs with no one to fill them.  Of course I’m not considering how you’d get rid of the foreign-born work force or how many jobs would disappear with them.  For that see: Illegals, deport them all!)

26.4% of Foreign-born labor did not complete HS, but 31.7% have a BA or higher – vs. 5.8% of Native labor did not complete HS, but 34.6% have a BA or higher.  Meaning the 94.6% of the native labor force is over-qualified for the  jobs over a quarter of foreign-born labor is qualified to take.

Education and job qualification differences are further evidenced in the participation rates of labor in certain industries.  Foreign-born labor is more likely to work in Service, Transportation, and Construction (where English and an education is less of a requirement) than native workers, but Native workers were more likely to work in Sales, Management, and Professional industries (where English and an education is more of a requirement).

That is of course how it has always been, immigrants filling the entry-low level jobs.  My great-grandfather labored on a pier after he emigrated from Italy over 100 years ago, my grandfather labored on a moving Van when he arrived over 50 years ago, now this family produces professionals.  But our nation still needs its cheep labor to compete with countries full of cheap labor.

Sadly at times a nation will steel its cheep labor as in the case of slavery, which allowed early America incredible growth.  At other times a nation will cut off its nose to spite its face.  Like allowing US companies to move manufacturing and other labor intensive operations to other countries citing cheap labor needs (to compete on a global scale), instead of allowing them to hire the cheap labor that knocks on the nations door asking to work everyday.

Immigrants who knock on our door begging to be let in, to work, are a gift. This is why the plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty contains these words from a sonnet by Emma Lazarus.

” Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she

If King has any credibility left he will apply his ‘guilty by acquittal’  justice system with a fair and even hand, and beat-his chest in another video calling out media magnet  Sarah Palin, who just had two more ethics violation charges filed against her today.  This is just days after her erratic resignation as Governor of Alaska, which she said was partly due to all the money being wasted settling in her favor 15 charges, with 4 others still pending.  With a total of 19-21 allegations of unethical behavior, ‘acquittals’ be damned – she’s as guilty as Michael Jackson!

I really did find King’s video unbecoming of a US Congressman, and I find myself wondering where his righteous indignation was while the ‘Pervert’ was still alive and a danger to the children he was around?  I can only guess King’s concern did not exist and that in making this video he was really attempting to look hip and techy for his constiutents while scoring brownie points with his party by scolding the media and condeming a pervert, respect for our court system be damned.

Lets do a thought experiment and plan the deportation of 20 million illegal immigrants from the US. The goal of a thought experiment is to explore the potential consequences of a principle in question, in our case “The Illegal Immigrant Question“.

We will be realistic yet aggressive in our time line.  Lets say we give ourselves ten years to complete the task.  Simple math tells us we must average, (20,000,000 [deportees]/3,650 [days in ten years]), 5,480 deportations per day, every day, including holidays to achieve our ten year goal.

Gather them up thoroughly!

Where will we get our 5,480 deportees?  That’s about 109 people per day from each state, but populations of illegals are likely not to be so evenly spread, and we can guess that deportees will come out of some states in bulk.   How will we find our deportees in the states?  Will they come willingly?  Will we need armed force to ‘clear’ some neighborhoods?  Do you want armed force ‘clearing’ your neighborhood? Are we prepared to use armed force, mortally if needed?  Will Illegals find sympathetic citizens willing to hide them?  Are we prepared to use force against the sympathetic citizenry?  Where will the money to finance the forces needed to do this, every day for ten years, come from?

Process them efficiently!

Once deportees are located some measure of due process must occur somewhere.  Deportees will need to be transported, (by bus, by train, or by plane), and consolidated into concentrated camps for efficient  “processing”.  Processing means identifying the Deportees, and their family, checking their legal status, and gathering necessary information such as their country of origin in order to determine where to send ‘them’ back to.  The processing might need to include interrogations to help us find other illegals the deportee may know.  How long this part of the process might take is hard to say.  What is certain is that 5,480 deportees will be arriving to these camps every day including Christmas for ten years, and that even if we take a conservative estimate of one week to transport, process, interrogate, and then deport each illegal, then we will need to provide shelter somewhere for at least 38,360 humans on any given day for ten years straight.  In addition these people will need to eat, so we must include in our plan 115,080 meals per day.  How will the transportation, shelter and sustenance stuffs for the deportees be funded?  Can the deportees help to defray some of the costs in some way?  Can they be made to pay for their deportation if they have the means?  Can the property of deportees be seized for payment purposes?  Can deportees in the camps ‘labor’ to pay for their deportation costs or at least to defray their housing costs?

Get rid of them permanently!

If our plan works after one week the steady flow if deportees out of the country should begin.  5,480 each day, every day for ten years will board a bus or a train, to take them to a plane or a ship, and deliver them to the borders of their country of origin.  We can assume some countries will be receiving deportees in bulk.  For our purposes I Googled “Mexican Illegals Stats” and came up with an estimate that Mexicans make up 70% percent of the illegal immigrant population.  That is on average 3,836 Mexicans per day, every day, or 115,080 Mexicans every month, being brought to the border.  Can Mexico absorb these people?  Will there be camps on the borders to receive them?  Is there a chance Mexico will ask us to stop the deportations?  What will we do if Mexico demands we stop the deportations?  What if the World demands we stop the deportations?  Are we willing to go to war over the issue or can we get rid of our 5,480 deportees per day another way?  Can we justify another way?

History repeats itself!

I hope by now you have come to the thought that America can not deport its problems, and that the public debate to do so must end.
